NATURAL REMEDIES FOR DARK SPOTS [HYPERPIGMENTATION]

Over-the-counter fade creams and dark spot erasers can often be expensive and harsh on the skin.

Prescription and over-the-counter creams formulated to address hyperpigmentation aka dark spots are harsh enough to cause skin sensitivity. So we’ve compiled a list of alternatives that are not only inexpensive but all-natural.

Before we begin, we always recommend that you perform a patch test for sensitivity before applying any new products to your skin.

Stimulate cell turnover with fruits

Exfoliation is an important step in the evening of your skin tone.

Apple, Papaya and Pineapples are amazing fruit acids known as alpha-hydroxy acids. These acids remove the top layers of the skin through weakening the lipids that bond them together, thus removing dull and dead skin cells and revealing healthy skin cells. This is a gentle way to chemically exfoliate your skin

To treat your dark spots with apple, papaya or pineapple, simply mash the fruit in a bowl, make sure the papaya is ripe and apple and pineapples are peeled. Apply as a mask to clean skin for 2-5 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

    Tumeric

Organic turmeric powder is a superstar ingredient for evening skin tone.

To fade dark spots with turmeric, make a mask using 1 part turmeric to 1 part honey.

      Yogurt

Yogurt, another AHA works to fade dark spots using lactic acid. Like the chemically exfoliating properties found in fruit, the lactic acid found in yogurt breaks down dead skin cells.

Mix 1 tbsp of ground oats with 2 tbsp of plain yogurt and apply this mixture onto your face for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

        Spinach

Spinach is a powerhouse of nutrients. It contains Vitamin K, A, C, B1, B2, B6, Manganese, Folate, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Protein, Phosphorous, Zinc, Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Spinach also contains beta-carotene, which has antioxidant properties that help in repairing the damaged skin.

Blend 4 medium-sized spinach leaves, mix in 1 tablespoon honey, 2 teaspoons lemon juice. Apply the mask on dry skin. Leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.
